ACH Payments

Important Update: Transitioning to ACH Payments

Important changes are underway at SMART-TD. In our continued effort to improve and simplify your experience, we are implementing a new system for handling all monthly payments for our NEW Voluntary Long-Term Disability (VLTD) and Voluntary Life Insurance (VLIFE) plans. We will be transitioning to Automated Clearing House (ACH) transfers, which will be made directly from your personal checking or savings account.

The reason for this change? It’s all about streamlining the payment process, making it more secure, and convenient. A prime advantage of this system is the timely fulfillment of your monthly payments. It eliminates the risk of delays or interruptions in coverage, even in the face of changes in your employment status.

Furthermore, switching to ACH transfers is a significant step in preserving your privacy. With this new payment method, rest assured that your personal information will remain confidential. This allows you to make the best financial decisions for your family, especially while waiting on decisions from FELA or Workman’s Compensation cases.

For those unfamiliar, an ACH payment is a type of electronic transaction conducted directly between banks in the United States. It’s a quick, secure, and straightforward method to transfer funds between accounts, improving record-keeping and giving Members more control over their transactions.

Note that Members currently using payroll deductions for payments will remain on this system for the time being.

Remember, our SMART-TD Customer Service Center is always here to assist with any questions or concerns about this transition.

We thank you for your continued support and greatly appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this period of change.

Best Regards,
